Connor “The Notorious” McGregor returns to the ring at the top of the card for UFC 246 this Saturday night. McGregor (21–4) is facing off against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (36–13 (1)) after more than a year away from MMA.
DraftKings has decided to add a 5:1 Odds Boost on bets for McGregor to win, so bet the favorite and make the most of his return. In other warm-up fights, Holly Holm faces off against Raquel Pennington, and Pettis takes on Carlos Diego Ferreira.
McGregor’s last fight was a loss in October 2018 to Khabib Nurmagomedov — the brawl that broke out between both corners after the match led to suspensions for both fighters. Before that, he lost in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017. His last win came in 2016. Saturday’s match is highly anticipated as a return to form after a rocky period away from the sport.
The last year has come with a fair amount of controversy and legal trouble for McGregor. Investigations into possible sexual assault apparently remain open and active. McGregor pleaded guilty to assault after punching an elderly man who refused a shot of his brand of whiskey. He was also arrested and charged for strong-arm robbery, and he later settled with the man he robbed.
Ahead of this weekend’s fight, McGregor is claiming to have curbed his drinking habit and rededicated himself to sport. His goal is two more fights in 2020 and, it seems, a cool $1 billion by his 35th birthday. Step one is to secure a victory on Saturday, and preferably in memorable fashion.
Whether “The Notorious” will be able to stay out of further trouble remains to be seen. What we know is that McGregor is back in action this weekend, and that DraftKings wants to boost your odds on bets for him to win.
