Hollywood Casino at Penn National online casino is coming soon

Penn National’s Hollywood Casino was approved for online gambling during the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s mid-September. The authorization allows the Harrisburgh casino to launch an online gambling product that includes online poker, online slots and online table games. Penn National Gaming is expected to partner with Scientific Games on online gambling, a global provider of casino games.

The company has paid a $10 million license fee for the privilege to offer online games to players located in PA.

Given that Penn National was one of the first casinos to apply for a license and was in the second round of approvals, Penn National could conceivably go live with online gambling in late 2018. In order for that to happen Penn National would need to be ready and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board would need to give the final go-ahead for approved casinos.

Penn National is arguably one of the most active PA casinos since Pennsylvania’s expanded gambling efforts. In addition to online gambling, Penn National will be launching two mini-casinos as well as sports betting.

The company also were the first to apply to offer sports betting in PA, when they submitted an application in mid-August. There have yet to be any approved PA sportsbooks yet, but the PGCB is expected to address sports betting in late October or early November of 2019. Penn National will pay an additional $10 million license fee for offering sports betting in PA. An online sportsbook will likely follow a brick and mortar presence.
