An In-Depth Review Of SugarHouse Casino

The SugarHouse Casino, which opened in 2010, is the only casino located within Philadelphia city limits. The casino features over 2,000 slot games, 50 table games and a 28 table poker room on a 45,000 square foot gaming floor.

In addition to gaming, the casino features a large selection of dining options and an Event Center that attracts an impressive list of national acts. The casino is owned by Rush Street Interactive, which also owns and operates the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

A SugarHouse online casino is also on the way, with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approving the casino in September of 2018. The casino is now authorized to offer table games, slots as well as an online poker room. SugarHouse has also applied for a sports betting license in PA. If all goes well, Pennsylvanians could be playing on a SugarHouse online casino and sportsbook in late 2018 or early 2019.

The SugarHouse PA online casino is coming soon

The SugarHouse Casino is among the handful of PA casinos that have been approved to offer online gambling, receiving the go-ahead in September by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. The casino spent $10 million for the authorization to offer a full suite online products — online poker, online table games and online slots. SugarHouse is also one of a handful of casinos that have applied for sports betting in PA.

Rush Street Interactive, the parent company of SugarHouse and Rivers Casino, is focusing on the SugarHouse brand for online gambling, having withdrawn the online gambling application for Rivers Casino in September.

SugarHouse is currently operational in New Jersey and we expect that the online casino in PA will be similar to the one in New Jersey. This is something that Pennsylvania players can get excited about as the company has created its own in-house software, receiving rave reviews for its huge selection of games.

When will we see a launch?

Given the time frame of SugarHouse’s approval, it would not be a surprise to see the PGCB give the go-ahead on an online gambling launch in late 2018 but it also could happen in early 2019. It might come down to whether the SugarHouse Casino is ready for online gambling. Rush Street’s focus on SugarHouse is probably a good sign in their efforts to be ready for online gambling sooner rather than later.

SugarHouse applied for sports betting in late September. Unlike online gambling, Rush Street has chosen to have Rivers Casino apply for a sports betting license. Should each of the casinos be approved, it would cost the company $20 million. An online sportsbook is part of the license package but is likely to be offered at a later date. Expect sports betting to be available either very late into 2018 or early 2019 for SugarHouse.

While you wait for PA online gambling

Online gambling is not yet available at the SugarHouse PA casino, but while you wait you can play real money games online today. The PA online lottery launched in May 2018 and now has two dozen “instant” games that can be played from a computer or mobile device.

New players to the PA lottery can even take advantage of a $5 free no deposit bonus to try out the games. Simply register to the iLottery and use bonus code WINNER when signing up. Players choosing to deposit onto the iLottery can also receive a 50% up to $50 first deposit bonus, which is in addition to the PA ilottery free bonus.

Make sure to stay tuned to this site for all the latest information on the launch of the SugarHouse online casino as well as any no deposit bonuses offered to Pennsylvanins.
